Every Saturday
He’s drinkin’ at the bar alone,
In this crowded place an island on his own.
In the mirrors on the wall life goes by,
Moving faces and bottles, asking “why?”
He get’s another whiskey, checks for the time,
Wrapped in thought how she made him blind,
Took his soul and flew away –
That memory hurts every Saturday.
He’s too afraid to stay at home
To meet the darkness when he’s feeling down,
All alone…
She’s seen him leaning at the bar, alone.
All dressed up like he’s waiting for someone.
Feels the sorrow in his heart,
Wants to sooth the pain that keeps them apart.
But as she’s getting closer, there’s no response.
No matter how she moves and uses all her charms.
His thoughts are many miles away –
He wants to run from every Saturday.
She doesn’t know what she’s done wrong,
Why every word she speaks is answered with
“So long…”
I saw them struggling from where I stayed,
Both in a role we all have played.
Everybody needs a friend – (Every Saturday)
Everybody needs a friend – (Every Saturday)
Everybody needs a friend – (Every Saturday)
