Bambi’s Song
How I surprised her showing up, when I got back in town.
She’d had no expectations, thought I would let her down.
But I remembered how she told me – “Boy, when you return,
We’ll have a party overnight, and see the skyline burn!”
She was off duty Wednesday night, about to leave the place.
That’s when I found her at the bar, without job’s masquerade.
A white-dressed dream that came alive and overwhelmed my soul,
A warming heart and honesty – with her I sensed it all.
They have called her Bambi, the junior of the team,
The sweetest, always cheerful, the dearest of the scene.
Barely twenty she makes her living in a world of softened lights;
With eyes like diamonds sparklin’, she’s my treasure of the night.
So good to hear her voice again, drown in her naughty eyes.
And while the shows went on and on, the golden bottle died.
As time was fading she embraced my mind with truthful words,
And in the end a friendship bridged our hearts in trust unfurled.
We dated for the weekend, and prepared to go back home.
She cared about her reputation, always went alone.
A little white lie was fair enough, I drove her to a friend.
She burst out laughing in the night, the moon flushed in the wind.
And they call her Bambi, the junior of the team,
The sweetest, always cheerful, the dearest of the scene.
Barely twenty she makes her living in a world of softened lights;
With eyes like diamonds sparklin’, she’s my treasure of the night.
She met me at St. Gertrude, a fancy dining place,
And everyone kept staring at this blond exciting grace.
There were no vague intentions, though we teased by candlelight;
A souvenir, a magic touch, romance washed on our sides.
The party didn’t end until next morning 5 a.m.
I got a taxi, took them home, those tipsy, lovin’ friends.
I’ll never share much time with her, we’re just too far apart,
The fool in love I seem to be, has closed her in his heart.
So I’ll call her Bambi, the junior of the team,
The sweetest, always cheerful, the dearest of the scene.
Barely twenty she makes her living in a world of softened lights;
With eyes like diamonds sparklin’, she’s my treasure of the night.
